Apple iCloud Private Relay
Assistance for those that are unable to view the QTH.com Ham Radio Classified Ads, due to your use of the Apple iCloud Private Relay feature
“Apple iCloud Private Relay” is essentially a VPN or Proxy, as it is hiding your real IP address, and hiding your location. This is exactly what scammers use to hide where they are, and that is why we block VPN/Proxy Servers.
In researching this feature, I came across this explanation:
Apple iCloud Private Relay ServiceApple’s iCloud Private Relay is a feature Apple is introducing that, according to Apple, “hides your IP address and Safari browsing activity from network providers and websites so that no one — including Apple — can see both who you are and what websites you’re visiting.” It sounds like a VPN service but doesn’t quite function like one.
So, it is really more like a Proxy than a VPN. Still, the QTH.com Classified Ads will continue to block the use of such a service, as it purposely hides your IP address. One way to identify scammers is knowing about where they are located.
To keep using the QTH.com Classified Ads, you have two easy options:
- If you want to keep using the Safari Browser, see this article for information on how to disable the Apple iCloud Private Relay Service:

- Or… Use another browser! Only the Safari browser uses the Apple iCloud Private Relay service. So, you can temporarily get around the problem by simply using another web browser, such as Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge, when using the QTH Classified Ads. That way, you don’t have to disable the Private Relay service to use the QTH Classified Ads.
